Paint Party Friday - Steve's Audrey Paintings

Hello everyone,

I am reposting this as part of Paint Party Friday. Check out the gorgeous blog entry here.

This is another art post this time. Steve has been so creative lately, he is permanently producing new art work and I am starting to get worried. Not about him painting all the time, no, not about that. But he paints sexy women and stunning portraits and the two pieces I am showing you today are of Audrey Hepburn, one of his idols. He owns every book about her and even has a gorgeous Audrey tattoo which he got in Berlin this summer.

So do I have to be worried? Am I competing with Audrey Hepburn? Ha, there is no way I ever could, who could compete with a stunning quirky yet dead cult actress.

I really can't decide which one I like better.

So what do you think of his mixed media paintings of Audrey? I love them, stunning contrast. They look great on the wall.
(and I have listed both in the art shop)

Let me know what you think.

Lots of love,
Nadine

2 Original Oil Paintings

Hello everyone,

... and today another art post. I have just listed 2 original oil paintings in the shop.

I have been thinking about this for ages and there are really 2 problems:

one: I find it impossible to take decent photos of the paintings, and with original paintings one needs a good photo of the actual painting. My prints I can take to the window where they get some light and the photos turn out decent enough. But the paintings are simply too big to put them in the window so the picture are unfortunately quite dark and blurry.

And the second problem is shipping of course. I have decided to put them in the Etsy shop only for shipping with the UK and then the shipping will be free and I'll arrange a courier to pick up and deliver. But if the paintings were to be shipped to the US for instance it would cost almost £90, who would ever pay that?

So let's see what happens. It's worth a try.

Both are oil paintings, quite large, "One bottle red" is 30" x 20" and "Where the sun" is 24" x 30" and both are painted on ready to hang canvas.

Can you see what "Where the sun" depicts? Most people can't figure it out without any help from me, but maybe if you see a smaller image rather than the original it will be easier.

What do you think? Do you like them?

Lots of love,
Nadine

New Mixed Media Paintings

Good morning everyone,

I have something slightly different for you today. I have noticed I am totally neglecting my paintings and other artwork on this blog. I always write about quilts but never about the paintings. So today I'll show you 2 new mixed media paintings.

You might remember the "Up up and away" mixed media painting which I am selling a print of in the art shop?

Well, I have made 2 more in a similar style. This is a fairly new thing for me, I have only recently started playing around with mixed media and am planning to do much more with it. I actually really want to combine fabric, thread, paper and paint in more modern abstract artwork, so watch this space.

But these 2 pieces are part of the nursery art collection I am working on.

The "Party Cake"

And "A girl can never have too many shoes" would be perfect for a little girl's room.

All 3 of these were crafted/painted on gallery canvas sized 20" x 20" and the originals will be available at the craft fair next week.

What do you think? Do you like them?

Lots of love,
Nadine
