Scraps Giveaway

Hello all,

It's time for a little Giveaway. I have put together 3 bags of scraps in many sizes, from small squares to larger pieces and even some pieces that are already sewn together. In total this would probably make about 2 quilts. One bag is mainly greens, blues and yellows. The second bag is browns and beige fabrics and the last bag is a mixture of all sorts of colors and styles.

To win these scraps just leave a comment telling me what's your favorite fabric collection at the moment.

Free Plushie with every quilt

Hello everyone,

oh I do apologize for the prolonged silence, it has been frantic and we still do not know what is happening with the house. The seller is being a b**** and is not making any commitments at all. We have no idea whether we can buy the house or not and if so when we can move in. And we have already invested so much money in it, the surveys and the solicitors, this is money we won't get back. We have also been decluttering and trying to get things in order. We are also so so soooooooo frugal eating just dried foods from the cupboard in order to save money and make some room. It is all very frustrating.

And in order to make some more room I have decided to give away a FREE Plushie with every sold quilt.

So if you are thinking of buying a quilt for someone or you think you might need one later on in the year, well do it now while you get a free plushie with the quilt. I do not know how long I will keep this offer on.

Phewww, 9 more finished quilts (Fresh Sewing Day)

Hello all,
soooo sorry for the neglect, but it's been a bit crazy here. We are in the process of buying a house, our first house, and it is stressing me out so much. I can barely sleep at night. everythign was going well (with a pretty difficult seller mind you) until she decided she wanted to postpone the sale for 3 to 6 months. This completely threw us, we have already invested £1500 in fees, surveys etc and as first time buyers we just can't afford to lose that money, so it's a bit of a waiting game now. Well, anyway it has been stressful. And what do I do when I am stressed out? I quilt.

So tada, I have finished 9 quilting projects (plus 3 cushions, which I will show you in another post). I hope you like these. They are all in the shop and I am currently working on my first advent calendars. I want to get them ready in good time before people start buying holiday items.

Bloggers Quilt Festival Spring 2013 - Doublesided QAYG Flora Quilt

yes, believe it or not but it's time for the next Bloggers Quilt Festival on Amy's Creative Side and I can't wait to check out all the lovely quilts that are entered.

I decided to enter my reversible QAYG Flora Quilt as I consider this my greatest achievement of the last few months. It took me forever and made me curse out loud so many times. Well, maybe getting a bit of recognition for it from my fellow quilters will help me get over the trauma. :)

But finally this quilt is finished, it honestly almost broke my back and brought me to the brink of giving up on quilting altogether. It was a nightmare to make and ended up being much bigger than I am normally comfortable with. (we have a tiny tiny flat which means I find it almost impossible to make larger quilts).

Once again I made a reversible quilt with 2 very different designs on front and back. On the front I used lots of colorful Phillip Jacobs fabrics and on the back I used Flora and Fauna fabrics by Patty Young, one of my favorite lines of all time.

Making the blocks was not bad, they are all 12" wide and were really fun to make, quilting the blocks was a doddle and so much fun. The difficulty is attaching the blocks to each other. Again, the blocks were not too bad but sewing the rows together made me curse out loud many times.

But it is done and that will be the last QAYG project for a while. Well, let's see.

Hello all,

I am currently in a quilt-making frenzy, or rather, I am frantically working my way through the unfinished projects pile and have now actually finished 8 quilts which had been waiting to be quilted and bound for some time. Pheew.

So here they are, I hope you like them. Sorry to be so short in this post, but I'll let the pictures speak for themselves (as I am knackered). I might just tell you a bit more about these some other day.

Quilt pics

Hello all,

I have revisited some of my quilts and took some new pictures in line with the photos I have in my shop. Apparently the best shops on Etsy use a lot of white backgrounds and images with white backgrounds are more likely to be use din treasuries. So fingers crossed this will make my shop look better. What do you think?

QAYG Flora Quilt

I already uploaded this quilt for the last Fresh Sewing Day but I think I was very late in the game and have therefore decided to just show this one again as I haven't had a chance to take photos of my latest finished.

The strips just sort of wrinkled as I sewed them on, maybe a problem with the sewing machine, feet too tight or something, and the strips on the back did not always cover the stitches from below. Very annoying. I pride myself in the quality of my quilting and this is simply not up to my standard.

But it is done and that will be the last QAYG project for a while.
