Name Quilts as Christmas pressies

Hello everyone,

I hope you've survived Christmas unscathed and your tummy has recovered from all the food and drink. No, not yet? Oh well, good intentions for the new year then.

I have so many projects to work on at the moment and have been very bad at taking photos. But I did take some pics of these name quilts I made for our neice and nephew, Leonie 8 and Reagan 6.

And as you can see I have been practicing my free motion quilting with a pebble design on Reagan's quilt.

And on my to do list and work in progress I have 7 quilts to quilt, with 2 quilts being QAYG projects, so you can see I have my work cut out for me. I have also been working a lot with felt. I tried to take some pictures of the results, unsuccessfully, and I will have to wait until the sun is out.

I promise I will keep you updated on the progress.

Have a lovely new year and happy crafting.

Nadine

Felt obsession

Hello all,

I am currently obsessed with felt and have been produsing felt garlands, ornaments, owls and now also felt balls. Funnily enough, the only things that sold at the craft fair on Saturday were felt items. So small and cheap is the way to go.

Will take some pics of my creations as soon as the sun is out.

Love, Nadine

Portrait Paintings by Steve

Hello all,

I wanted to share some more of Steve's amazing artwork with you today. These are definitely some of my favorites. He is so good at painting portraits, especially conveying character is sometimes quite hard. But he always manages it somehow.

I hope you like these. They are both available in the artshop as prints. And there is still a 3 for 2 offer on all prints. So go get them and make an artlover happy at Christmas.

Lots of love,
Nadine (and Steve)

PS: I am also sharing these on Paint Party Friday, and I recommend you to go and check out all the amazing artwork there. So much inspiration and talent.

Black Friday - Cyber Monday SALE 20% off

Hello all,

yep, it's that time of year agin, already, UNBELIEVABLE. I can't believe how time flies, we're so close to Christmas and I have NO PRESSIES yet. Argh.

I have started this year's Black Friday - Cyber Monday Sale and you get 20% off everything in both the Quilt Shop and the Art Shop until Monday night. So at least you can go and get some pressies for your loved ones. Maybe some plushies or a quilt for someone or maybe a table runner or placemats?

I wish I could actually take advantage of the Black Friday deals too but we are skint and have to wait until December. Especially since I am going to the Knitting and Stitching Show on Sunday in Harrogate. Will have to keep a close eye on my purse, I will be so tempted to buy more fabrics.

Is anyone else going? Oh and are you all participating in the Black Friday - Cyber Monday Sales, either as a seller or a buyer?

Lots of love,
Nadine

Meet "Nerdy Nadine"

Hello all,

I know I have been neglecting you and I promise you, I am repenting. But I hope you will like my new plushies design called "Nerdy Nadine" and be less cross with me.

I wanted to experiment with some new designs for plushies/cushions and this is the first result. I have to say I love them. They look so retro and they all seem to have a different personality in a way.

And they make lovely cushions, especially with the soft fleece on the back. They are all slightly different in size, with the smaller ones being 15" tall and 10" wide and the taller ones 17" tall and about 9" wide.

What do you think? I hope you like them. They are all in the shop now.

Love, Nadine

Finished projects

Hello all,

finally a few more finished items. I have 2 table runners for you, one small baby stroller quilt and another Precious Panda.

The table runners were made with Kona solids and are completely reversible with a very different design on the back. I love the effect and I don't know about you, but I love reversible items and being able to turn them around when I want something new. They look great on a modern table (unfortunately, we don't actually have a dining table so I could not take photos of them on a proper big table.)

And as you can see, these were some of my first projects quilted on Jane using Free Motion Quilting and I am quite proud of myself of finally being able to do that. One was done in a regular meandering stippling effect, the other one in a flat swirl design.

The Stroller Quilt was made with "Little Apples" by Aneela Hooey and some gorgeous soft olive green fleece on the back.

And of course here is Mr. Panda.

I hope you like these. They are all available in the shop.

Lots of love,

Nadine

Bloggers' Quilt Festival - Reversible QAYG Bookshelf Quilt

Hello all,

and welcome to all you lovely guests who made it over here from Amy's Bloggers' Quilt Festival. Please mingle and say hello (and maybe stay and become a follower even, that would be great :)

Today I am sharing my finished Bookshelf Quilt with you, pheeewww, only took me a few months, but it was worth it, I absolutely adore it and will think really hard whether I can bear to put it in the Etsy shop. It's a generous lap quilt size of 48" x 58".

Blogger’s Quilt Festival Stats
Finished quilt measures : 48″x 58″
Special techniques used : quilt as you go
Quilted by : Nadine Saupe
Best Category : Scrap Quilt, Throw Quilt, ROYGBIV Quilt
no: 145

This is another reversible quilt with Kaffe Fasset fabrics on the top and the Tradewindows quilt on the back made with Tradewinds fabric by Lily Ashbury for Moda. This quilt is another Quilt-as-you-go project like several of my other quilts too.

I love the result, I could never quilt so densely if I had to quilt the whole quilt. Even on my new machine (yay!) it will take me lots and lots of practice until I can Free Motion Quilt a whole quilt like that.

I am participating in Amy's Blogger's Quilt Festival  again so go and have a browse through all the other amazing blogs. Will have to go pop over and snoop around all those lovely blogs myself.

Lots of love from York,
Nadine xx

Current Fabric Crushes

Oh I was so determined to not get swayed and not buy any fabrics for a long long time. I really have enough fabrics and of course I can't afford to spend money just now.

But I did make the mistake to LOOK, ... looking might just be the end of me, of my bank account that is. But I fell in love with these gorgeous fabric collections.

I am tempted but fingers crossed I can stay strong.

What are your current fabric crushes?

Flame - Fashion Illustration by Steve

Hello all,

I have just listed Steve's latest Fashion Illustration print, a gorgeous mixed media painting he called "Flame".

I absolutely love it. He has such a good feel for conveying character in his portraits. The hair looks airy and the contrast is stunning, he has a really good eye for color too.

What do you think?
